new Delhi. Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley died in Delhi AIIMS on Saturday. He was 66. He breathed his last at 12 o'clock in the afternoon. Jaitley, who had undergone a kidney transplant, developed cancer. They were placed on a life support system. Jaitley's body was kept at his residence. After 10 am on Sunday, it will be taken to the BJP headquarters for a final visit. The funeral will be held at Nigambodh Ghat later in the afternoon.

Jaitley was admitted to AIIMS on August 9 after suffering from shortness of breath. Jaitley was undergoing treatment for soft tissue cancer. He went to New York on 13 January to treat the disease and returned in February. Jaitley had tweeted after returning from America for treatment - happy to be home. He also stopped going to the office in April 2018. His kidney (kidney) transplant was also done at AIIMS on 14 May 2018, he was also suffering from sugar. Jaitley's bariatric surgery was also done in September 2014 due to weight gain.

A graduate in 1973,
Jaitley's father Maharaja Kishan Jaitley and mother Ratan Prabha became president of the student union a year later . Jaitley's father was also a lawyer. Jaitley did his schooling from St. Xavier's School in New Delhi. Graduated from Shri Ram College of Commerce in 1973. Arun Jaitley was the convener of the National Committee set up in 1973 for the entire revolution movement of Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan against corruption.




He was married to Sangeeta on 24 May 1982. They have a son Rohan and daughter Sonali. Jaitley served as Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Law, Justice and Company Affairs in Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, he lost from Amritsar Lok Sabha seat to Congress leader Captain Amarinder Singh. Despite this, he was made the Minister of Finance and Defense in the Modi government. He also handled the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he decided not to contest due to health reasons.
